As part of the celebration, hundreds of saplings were planted at the premises of 27 Assam Rifles, Somsai and CSSM Campsite at Kasom Phungthar Ngahong, Ukhrul. Officers and staff of Ukhrul Forest Division and rank and files of 27 Assam Rifles planted sapling of jackfruits, bottle brush, silver oak, lemon and cherry. 

Same tree plantation was carried out at the compound of CSSM Campsite at Kasom Phungthar Ngahong, Ukhrul along with the staff and committee members of CSSM.

DFO Ukhrul, Shanngam Shaliwo informed this correspondent that tree plantation will also be carried out in other villages of Ukhrul district.

He added that due to COVID-19 pandemic, mass tree plantation programmes could not be carried out. However, the programme to plant more trees will be intensified in a phase wise manner in the coming days with active participation from the Ukhrul forest division. He stated that a tree plantation programme will be held tomorrow at Chingai, Chingjaroi and other villages.
