Manipur Tourism Minister N Biren Singh, who is also Leader of the House, said the future of Manipur’s economy will be tourism, and the government has identified 57 tourist places to promote the tourism sector.
He informed the House on Thursday during the ongoing third session of 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly while clarifying the policy cut motion raised by opposition MLAs K Meghachandra Singh and Th Lokeshwar Singh in the demand of Tourism.
Before clarifying the policy cut motions, N Biren Singh informed the House about the achievements made by Manipur which was published in a national media report. Based on the report, CM Biren informed that Manipur is on the top among the Northeastern states in tourism sector and stands on the 21st position among the entire states of India in which Tamil Nadu stands on the top position in the country.
Responding to the policy cut motions, CM Biren informed that to promote tourism of the state, the present government has increased the number of sites to hold Sangai festival to 15 spots in the state. He said the government will further set up tourist spots at Jessami where the first battle with the Japanese and the British was fought on Indian soil.
Clarifying the policy cut motion on account of the delay in the work for road connectivity, water facility and power supply at Gwarok Mahadev temple complex, N Biren informed that the government will take necessary steps to complete the pending works and others.
