Relief funds for the massive 2017 flood in Lilong, Thoubal district are yet to reach the victims and were misused by various departments, alleged the JAC Lilong Kendra Coordination Development Committee on Sunday.

The massive flood that took place at Lilong in 2017 reportedly destroyed around 4,000 houses and affected the economical condition of the flood victims.

However, however the state government has not distributed the relief funds to the affected victims as yet, co-convenor of the JAC, Bm Taj Khan said while briefing the media at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.

The then government had sanctioned a total of Rs 15 crore for the whole Thoubal district for flood relief , he said, adding that recently a report received from the Thoubal DC office revealed that the relief funds of Fisheries, Veterinary, Animal Husbandry and house damage have been utilised.

“But none of the flood-affected victims had received any relief funds from the concerned department till date,” he added.

In this regard, the co-convenor also demanded the state government to produce a white paper for departmental wise on the flood relief fund by July 28. Failure to fulfil the demands will result in the JAC taking up various forms of agitations by joining hands with the general public, he cautioned.
