At least 11 workers of NPP candidate of Kshetrigao Assembly constituency Sheikh Noorul Hassan were on Monday picked up by Porompat police, sources said.

As per the sources, the workers were picked up by the police without proper reason, while the NPP candidate was at the oath-taking ceremony.
Demanding unconditional release of the said workers, locals and supporters of the NPP candidate stormed Porompat police station.

Meanwhile, the police fired tear gas and mock bombs to disperse the crowd.
It may be mentioned that Sheikh Noorul Hassan won with 13,118 votes in the recently concluded 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections.
