109 Battalion, CRPF under the aegis of IG Manipur and Nagaland sector, Sh Akhilesh Prasad Singh, conducted a civic action programme at Khabung village Karong, Senapati District on Thursday where in torches were distributed to the villagers.
The programme aimed to extend a friendly and helping hand to the residents of the village and connect with the marginalised section of the society, stated a release. Commandant-109Bn CRPF, Sh Bal Krishna Ram; Assistant commandant 109 Bn, Sh Alex Kophom, Assistant Commandant OC of B/109 Bn Senapati 109Bn, Sh A Visapunii graced the event, a press release from the Commandant, 109 Bn CRPF stated in a press release.
Speaking at the programme, Sh A Visapunii asserted that the event was about providing illumination, empowering individuals, enhancing safety and fostering sustainable development. He expressed his happiness upon getting the opportunity to help the people of Khabung village, it said. He further assured that the unit will continue to serve the people of Manipur by carrying out such humanitarian activities, it asserted.
Around 250 handheld energy-generated torches were distributed to the villagers on the occasion, it mentioned. Sh D Jacob; social worker Sh L K Khapapou; pastor Sh L R Kadi; headmaster Sh S Nagaopunii; Khabung village union secretary Sh Jonathan; village headman Sh Ngaopunii, personnel of 109 Bn, CRPF and many villagers attended the event, it added.
