Manipur MLA Kh Joykisan on Friday appealed to the 10 MLAs to withdraw their demand for a separate administration, stating that they should bind the territorial integrity of Manipur, as they had sworn to protect it.

Joykisan told the media at his Thangmeiband residence, Imphal that the MLAs are elected as people’s representatives. They were sworn in to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur at the time of need for the welfare of various communities of Manipur, he said.

He raised suspicion that the 10 MLAs might have raised the demand for a separate administration under duress. It is their responsibility to control their public, he said.

There are still some places where various ethnic communities are living in peace and harmony, and all the entire MLAs should remember that their priority is to bring peace and harmony among the various ethnic communities, he said.

If there is no cooperation among the ethnic communities, then the territorial integrity will be affected, he further said. The people across Manipur have been suffering due to the communal clash for the past around 15 days, he said.

“Politicians should stop playing blame game in order to get political mileage. They should rather cooperate with each other to end the communal clash and give priority to bring peace and harmony in Manipur,” he added.

Joykisan said, “I will resign from my post as an MLA and will be on the frontline to sacrifice myself to protect the territorial integrity and boundary of Manipur if the situation arises.”

He appealed to the people not to make comments that could harm the sentiment of a particular community and urged the people to cooperate with each other to build a united Manipur.
