The ninth flight under India's Operation Ganga carrying 218 Indian nationals onboard departed for New Delhi from Bucharest, Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar informed on Tuesday. He said the Indian Government will not rest till all fellow Indians in war-hit Ukraine are safe.
“We will not rest till our fellow Indians are safe. Ninth #OperationGanga flight departs Bucharest for New Delhi with 218 Indian nationals,” Jaishankar tweeted.
The eighth flight of Operation Ganga departed from Budapest to Delhi.
As many as 1,396 Indians were brought back home safely from Ukraine in three days, Union minister Piyush Goyal said.
"1,396 Indians brought back home safely from Ukraine in three days. Continuous monitoring is being done by Modi Government for expanding the evacuation process through #OperationGanga," the Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles said in a Twitter post on Tuesday.
Hundreds of students are stranded in Ukraine in the wake of the country being attacked by Russia since Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
Meanwhile, Opposition Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday accused the Narendra Modi-led government of not taking effective measures to evacuate Indians stranded in Ukraine.
The Government has set up 24x7 control centres to assist the evacuation of Indian nationals from Ukraine through border crossing points with Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovak Republic, official sources said.
