Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh is scheduled to leave for Uzbekistan to attend the Annual Meeting of Defence Ministers' of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Member States in Tashkent from August 23 to 25.
The Raksha Mantri is scheduled to meet his Uzbekistan counterpart Lieutenant General Bakhodir Kurbanov and Minister of Defence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which is also the host country.
"Tomorrow, August 23, I will be in Uzbekistan to take part in the SCO Defence Ministers Meet being held at Tashkent. I will be holding a bilateral meeting with Uzbekistan’s Defence Minister, Lt General Nizamovich, and also interact with the Indian community. Look forward to it," Rajnath tweeted on Monday.
The Annual Meeting will discuss Defence Cooperation issues among the SCO Member States. Rajnath Singh is scheduled to address the meeting on August 24.
Meetings are also scheduled with Defence Ministers' of some other Member countries of SCO on the sidelines of this meeting, where bilateral issues and issues of mutual interest will be discussed, the ministry said in a release.
Besides the meeting, Rajnath Singh will pay homage at the monument of Late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and interact with Indian Diaspora in Uzbekistan.
