Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Jagdeep Dhankhar on taking oath as Vice President of India.
In a tweet the Prime Minister said;
"Attended the oath-taking ceremony of Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji. I congratulate him on becoming India's Vice President and wish him the very best for a fruitful tenure," Modi tweeted.
Jagdeep Dhankhar, former governor of West Bengal, was sworn in as new Vice President of India on Thursday. He takes over office from his predecessor M Venkaiah Naidu.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren also congratulated the new vice president of India and said that the Rajya Sabha will immensely benefit from his leadership.
"Heartiest congratulations to Shri@jdhankhar1 Ji on becoming the new Vice President of India. I'm confident that the Rajya Sabha will immensely benefit from your abled leadership," Biren tweeted.
