National Policy on Older Persons 1999 still relevant and valid: Minister Pratima Bhoumik

The National Policy on Older Persons envisages state support to ensure financial and food security, healthcare, shelter, protection and other needs of older persons to improve quality of their lives.

The National Policy on Older Persons announced in January 1999 is still relevant and valid, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Sushri. Pratima Bhoumik said on in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

The policy envisages state support to ensure financial and food security, healthcare, shelter, protection and other needs of older persons to improve quality of their lives.

The policy is valid till it is changed or updated, said the minister in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
