The Union External Affairs Ministry, BM Division has stated that some IT companies located in Myanmar are recruiting Indian workers and facilitating their entry into Myanmar illegally without proper documentation.
An office memorandum signed by under secretary to the Government of India, Himanshu Sagar stated that the Embassy of India in Yangon had issued an advisory in this regard, and called for attention of all concerned on the matter.
The advisory mentioned that some IT companies engaged in digital scamming, forging crypto activities located in remote eastern border areas of Myanmar are recruiting Indian workers from different places through their recruiting agents. They are being recruited on the pretext of potential employment opportunities in the IT sector, it stated.
After initial recruitment, the Indian workers are being facilitated to enter Myanmar illegally without proper documentation, leading to the entrapment of Indian workers, it further stated.
Concerning the matter, Indian nationals are hereby requested to exercise due caution and verify the antecedents of the recruiting agents, the advisory mentioned.
It is advisable to have all the requisite information (job description, company details, location, employment contract etc.) before accepting any employment that has been offered, it added.
