Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has tested positive for COVID-19, according to his post on Twitter on Sunday.
"I have tested positive for coronavirus. I am fine, but as recommendation by doctors, I’m being admitted to a hospital. I request those who have come in contact with me recently to be observant and exercise self-quarantine," the chief minister tweeted.
The report of Yediyurappa being infected with coronavirus came hours after Union Home Minister Amit Shah was tested positive for the same. The chief minister was taken to the Manipal hospital in Bengaluru, sources said.
Earlier, three members of the cabinet were also reported infected by the virus. Forest Minister Anand Singh, Tourism Minister C T Ravi and Agriculture Minister B C Patil were tested positive for Coronavirus.
Karnataka has 74,590 COVID-19 active cases and 2,496 fatalities till date.
