"IJU wholeheartedly condemned such attacks on media houses. Such incidents have happened in the past and we do not know who will be the target next time," IJU president Geetharta Pathak said in a statement.
Geetharta said, "Unless and until the government gives safeguard to the media houses and ensures security of the journalist, similar incidents will continue. Such attacks on media houses and journalist can continue if terrorist exist and as such the government should tighten its stand on terrorism".
"It will be very unfortunate if the government is not sensitive to the freedom of media, which is essential for democracy," said Geetharta.
The IJU president said that journalists in the country are under attack from the government, terrorists and from all sorts. Apart from that, the present government will immediately take action against a person criticising the present government even in social media.
People should have the right to criticise the government and even the terrorists, Geetharta added.
