A total of 1,75,494 financial fraud complaints were received on the toll-free helpline number 1930 in the last three years as per the data maintained by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ajay Kumar Mishra said on Wednesday.
The minister said in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday the complaints were received during the period August 30, 2019 to March 30, 2022 on the toll-free Helpline number ‘1930’ (earlier ‘155260’).
The Union Home Ministry made operational the helpline for immediate reporting of financial frauds on the “Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System” module and to get assistance in lodging cyber crime incidents on the “National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal” (www.cybercrime.gov.in)
Such complaints are being handled by the respective State/UT Law Enforcement Agencies. The NCRB does not maintain specific data about the number of complaints disposed of out of the received complaints, the minister added.
