Association of Surgeons of India, Manipur Chapter (ASIMANICON), in association with Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI), Association of Surgeon of India (ASI)-Manipur State Chapter and Shija Hospitals conducted a one-day Live operative workshop on Laparoscopic Surgery on Friday at the premises of Shija Hospitals.
Addressing the media, head of department of SHIJA Hospitals for General Surgery and Minimal Access Surgery, Dr Devendra Khwairakpam, who is also the workshop chairman, said that ASIMANICON annually conducts conference in the month of October and for this year, the conference is scheduled for October 8-9. As a part of it, a workshop on Laparoscopic Surgery is being held in which two surgeons from other states are going to attend, he added.
He further said that Laparoscopic Surgery is accepted as one of the most successful forms of surgery technique that is used in abdominal and pelvic areas. Through this technique many ailments can be treated like gallbladder surgery, laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair, colostomy, appendectomy and so on. These various surgeries would be presented live during the workshop so that students of the institution would learn from it, he informed.
CMD of Shija Hospitals, Dr Kh Palin; senior vice president of AMASI, Dr Kalpesh Jani; faculty of AMASI, Dr Pravin Suryavanshi; chairman of ASI-Manipur State Chapter, Dr Nepram Sanjib Singh and president of AMASI, Dr Jugindro Singh attended the function as chief guest, guests of honour and president respectively.
