Manipur Assembly elections 2022 first phase began at 7 am Monday across 38 constituencies amid high tension and tight security arrangements. Of the 38 constituencies in the first phase of the state general elections, 10 are in Imphal East, 13 in Imphal West, six in Bishnupur, six in Churachandpur and three in Kangpokpi district. As many as 173 candidates, including 15 female candidates, are in the fray for the first phase of the polls. In all, 12,09,439 total voters, including 5,80,607 males, 6,28,657 females and 175 transgender are expected to exercise their franchise across 1,721 polling stations in the first phase.
Manipur Governor La Ganesan was the first to cast his vote at Model Polling Station 11-Sagolband Assembly Constituency 11/34-TG Higher Secondary School at around 7.15 am.

A clash between BJP and KPA workers erupted at 60/10 polling booth in Singhat, Manipur. According to a monitoring report for assembly polls, the clash has been resolved. Polling process has resumed. Returning officer 60 of Singhat has written to officer-in-charge for lodging FIR against intruder and offenders involved in the incident.
12: 30 pm: FIR lodged against gun attack at 6/32 Phunal Maring polling station in Keirao Kendra.
The FIR has been lodged at Irilbung police station under section 171-F/427/34 IPC and 27 Arms acts for election offence and damage with common intention by using fired arms.
11.45 am: 27.34 per cent voter turnout till 11 am.

9.10 am: 9.9 per cent voter turnout till 9am.
9.05 am: A total of 86 voters, including 47 males and 39 females, cast their votes at 11/34 TG Higher Secondary School under Sagolband Constituency. Total voters expected is 459.
8.39 am: Union Home Minister Amit Shah urges youths of Manipur to come out and vote
"I urge the people of Manipur, especially the youth to vote in large numbers. Your one vote will keep this beautiful state free from insurgency, blockade and corruption. So come out and vote for a prosperous Manipur," Shah tweeted.
