Transfer Meitei JNV students in hill districts to valley: Parents Association

Parents Association of JNV expressed concern over the safety of 134 total Meitei students studying in the three hill district JNVs.

Parents Association of Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) on Thursday urged the concerned authorities to transfer Meitei students studying in several JNVs in the hill districts of Manipur to JNVs in the valley districts of the state.

The association specifically appealed to authorities to transfer Meitei students from JNVs in Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul districts to valley JNVs in the valley districts of Manipur.

Speaking to media at the Manipur Press Club in Majorkhul, Irengbam Ibungo stated that a total of 134 Meitei students were studying in the three hill district JNVs which includes 65 students in JNV Churachandpur district, 54 in Kangpokpi district and 15 in Ukhrul district.

He highlighted that the parents’ association had submitted several applications to various authorities concerned about the plights of the students.

We have sent the applications to Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Regional Office, Shillong and all the DCs and JNV authorities of the concerned districts regarding the issue, he added.

He pointed out that the summer vacation for JNVs in Manipur would be over on June 28 and maintained that the parents were apprehensive about sending their children back to school in light of the present crisis.

As such, he reiterated his appeal to the concerned authorities to transfer the students of the above-mentioned JNVs to the valley and resolve the plights of the parents and the students.
