Tamenglong college celebrated the successful first cycle NAAC assessment and Accreditation Grade-B at its multipurpose hall of Tamenglong college on Tuesday.
Disaster Management Minister Awangbow Newmai, Tamenglong assembly constituency MLA Janghemlung Panmei, state director of University and Higher Education Rangitabali Waikhom, Tamenglong College principal N Daimei attended the event as chief guest, guest of honour and president of the function respectively.
Rongmei Naga Students Organisation Manipur president Daichui Gangmei, zonal education officer Tamenglong N Abonpou Christopher attended as special invitees.
In his chief guest speech, Minister Awangbow Newmai expressed his gratitude to the college administration for their hard work and efforts for the achievement. He urged them to work harder to achieve greater achievements.
He urged all students to be sincere to oneself and have strong determination and work hard and above all to be bold and face anything for the future.
MLA Janghemlung Panmei mentioned that the construction of Tamenglong college science stream is under good progress and if there are no disturbances, the science college will be completed after two-three years.
He said that he had been telling students who went outside to pursue education to come back and study in Tamenglong college. “It is your duty to bring a good name to Tamenglong College by bringing good results,” Panmei said.
Tamenglong college needs special care, he said and urged the director of University and Higher Education Rangitabali Waikhom to fill all the vacant posts.
A journal published by Tamenglong college was released by minister Awangbow Newmai.
Tamenglong college students union submitted a memorandum to provide adequate infrastructure, teaching and non staff at Tamenglong as per recommendation of NAAC peer team.
Other requirements including approach road and infrastructure for college campus, toilet and urinal, sports and music facilities, drinking water and common rooms would be settled by state budget, Rangitabali Waikhom assured.
She donated a projector to the principal on the occasion of celebrating the successful first cycle NAAC assessment. College students performed a beautiful dance to entertain the gathering.
