The Directorate of Tribal Affairs and Hills, Manipur has announced an extension for the online application submission for the Schedule Tribe (ST) Pre and Post Matric Scholarship for the academic year 2024-25.
According to the notification issued on September 3, 2024, the deadline for submitting applications has now been extended to December 5, 2024, stated a release.
The Directorate clarified that applications must be submitted online via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP 2.0) at www.scholarships.gov.in. The application process for both Pre and Post Matric Schemes will remain open until December 5, 2024, while defective application verification will continue until December 23, 2024. Institution verification will be open until December 24, 2024, and verification by district, state, or ministry officials will extend until January 24, 2025, it mentioned.
Students seeking to avail themselves of the Hosteller benefit under the scheme have been instructed to adhere to specific guidelines set out in the Post Matric Scholarship rules issued by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
“Normally the term ‘Hostel’ is applicable to be common residential building and a common mess for the students run under the supervision of the educational institution authorities. In case the college authorities are unable to provide accommodation in the college Hostel, an approved place of residence can also be treated as Hostel for the purpose of this scheme. The place will be approved by the Head of Institution after due inspection and keeping in view the rules and regulations laid down by the University, if any. In such case, a certificate to the effect that the student is residing in an approved place of residence as he is unable to get accommodation in the college hostel should be furnished by the Head of the institution”, it highlighted.
Applications lacking the necessary certification from the Head of the institution will be rejected outright, the Directorate warned.
Students were also advised to keep their unique mobile numbers, email IDs, login IDs, and passwords safe, as these will be required for future reference during the application process, it added.
The Directorate further reminded all government-funded institutions, including Central and State colleges, that students enrolled in institutions offering free education (such as EMRS, JNVs, etc.) should not apply for the scholarship. Any such applications from these institutions will be rejected, and disciplinary action will be taken against the institution’s head.
All institutes were urged to ensure that applications are verified and submitted in accordance with the number of students enrolled in the AISHE/UDISE database.
The notification called for strict adherence to the deadlines and verification processes, and directed all students, principals, heads of departments, and District Nodal Officers (DNOs) in Manipur and outside the state to complete their application procedures well before the extended deadline.
