Special measures for students appearing exams from red zone

CM Biren said the government is aware of the issues faced by the students who are appearing in Class X and XII examinations from vulnerable areas.

After considering the issues faced by the students of peripheral areas while appearing for the class X and XII examinations, the Manipur government will take special measures especially for them to avoid drop-outs in examinations, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said on Friday.

The chief minister was responding to the motion raised by Opposition MLA Th Lokeshwar in the agenda consideration and passing of Manipur Appropriation (No 2) Bills, 2024 (Bill no. 3 of 2024) on the floor of the house during the 5th session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly.

CM Biren said the government is aware of the issues faced by the students who are appearing in Class X and XII examinations from vulnerable areas.

Students are not able to concentrate on studies due to sporadic firings which lead panicky situation and hence, the government will take special measures for those students to avoid dropouts, he added.

To maintain law-and-order the government has started deputing state forces along with the central forces and they have started securing vulnerable places in some of the red zones, the CM said.

CM Biren said commanding officers of respective battalions will be staying at vulnerable areas to control any unwanted incidents. The state government is also providing 20 new bullet proof vehicles and 10 large capacity bullet proof vehicles to state forces, the CM said, adding that another 20 bullet proof vehicles will be coming in the state so that state forces can use them while maintaining law and order situation in the state.

Meanwhile, CM Biren said the concerned ministry has approved to construct 2 designated camps out of 3 in Chanung area, Imphal East for Pambei-led UNLF. He said the central government will give more approval for construction of designated camps for the same outfit in other areas.
