After an extended summer break of two months, young students were seen being dropped off to school by their parents amid high tension and tight security as schools in Manipur reopened for students of classes one to eight on Wednesday.
The schools were closed early summer vacation since the communal violence broke out on May 3 evening. The closure of schools was extended in view of the persisting crisis situation in the state.
However, the chief minister on Monday announced the reopening of schools, which will initially apply for classes 1 to 8.
