All Kha Kanglei Students’ Union (AKKSU) information and publicity secretary on Saturday alleged that the ‘School Fagathansi Mission’ has failed to reach the school located in outlying areas of Manipur.

She raised the allegations during a cleanliness drive organised by AKKSU at Hiyanlam Hiranmei Turel Manbi Primary School on Saturday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the campaign, Sonia noted that the school campus is overgrown with bushes, causing inconvenience to the students.

The school currently serves 56 students with just two teachers. The school itself is in a dilapidated state with lack of basic infrastructure. Students from underprivileged families attend the school with the support of the Punshi Lamjing Meira Village Level Federation, which has hired three additional teachers through monetary contributions from its members. Sonia urged the authorities concerned to address these issues promptly.

Sonia also alleged that AKKSU has evidence of the misuse of midday meal rice intended for students by certain student organisations from various schools across Kakching district. She warned that the names of those involved would be exposed if such misconduct continues.

Meanwhile, Elangbam Bilasini, a member of the Punshi Lamjing Meira Village Level Federation, highlighted the school’s deteriorating condition, stating that the school was on the verge of closure before the federation intervened to save it. She also urged the authorities to extend the ‘School Fagat Hansi Mission’ to this school and to address the lack of infrastructure to ensure quality education for the students.
