Condemning the issuance of transfer order of Jiribam Higher Secondary School teacher M Romeo Singh, the Jiribam Higher Secondary School Students Union (JHSSSU) demanded the authority concerned to revoke the transfer order as there is already a problem of inadequacy of teachers.
JHSSSU general secretary Ng Thoungamba Singh said that the transfer order of JHSS teacher Romeo was issued on August 4 by Education (S) joint secretary, Hmangte Lerte Kom. The teacher is a local of Jiribam and transferring him to Ukhrul Higher Secondary School is highly condemnable.
Romeo is also the coordinator of Diploma in Elementary Education in Highway English School Centre and his absence will bring many shortages in terms of students’ academics, he added.
He further said that initially a mathematics teacher was also transferred and the students have to appear for their examinations without any mathematics teacher. Jiribam Higher Secondary School is one of the best government schools in the district, however, frequent transfer of teachers would eventually disturb the learning process of students.
Appealing to the authority concerned to revoke the transfer order of the teacher, Thoungamba said that if the demand is not fulfilled, intense agitations will be carried out along with various student bodies and CVOs of Jiribam district.
