The Federation of Government College Teachers' Association (FEGOCTA) has stated that the government college teachers will take up online classes and other academic activities only after the issues related to employees’ Dearness Allowance (DA) and orders of the Seventh UGC Pay and Regulation 2018 are resolved.
The association in a release on Monday lauded the state government especially Chief Minister N Biren and his cabinet colleagues for the cabinet approval of the 7th UGC Pay and Regulation 2018 and expressed gratitude to the chief secretary, commissioner of Higher Education and the director of University and Higher Education.
It stated that the decision to continue boycotting online classes and other academic activities is taken collectively by FEGOCTA, MGSF, MSSA and other employee associations of Manipur. It appealed to the government to resolve the issues of employees, including DA at the earliest.
Regarding the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the release stated that after submission and feedbacks to the former union minister of Human Resources Development Prakash Javadekar, the federation will organise a discussion series on 'NEP, 2020 and Manipur' and the recommendation of the discussion will be submitted to the central and state government.
