The  notice of the Director of University and Higher Education which was announced recently asking online admission for the 2020-21 session of all the state government and aided colleges has irked Lilong Haoreibi College Students Union.

A release signed by the finance secretary Md Sadam Khan of the union stated that the notice of the director should not be applied to Lilong Haoreibi College at any cost.

The release also said that the present principal of the college, Dr A Surendrajit had allegedly misused several college funds including the funds of the student’s union since he took the charge as the principal. Any development work of the college had not been undertaken so far, it stated.

All the relevant documents regarding the charges levelled against the principal are in the hands of the union, the release stated. The students union had been demanding to bring out a white paper on this to the higher authority since the past two months but no positive response has been given so far, it added.

Having turned down the unions’ demands and kept aside, the director of Education had been notified to process online admission of the colleges, this should not be applied to Lilong Haoreibi College, the release added.

It seems the Higher Authority of Education Department of the Manipur government wanted to abolish the Lilong Haoreibi College, the release stated. The higher authority remaining silent on the issue is unreasonable. They should be held responsible for any unwanted incidents if the high-handed and corrupted principal is not transferred from the college at the earliest, the union warned.

The release also warned that the guilty principal should be suspended and all his engagement staff should be removed from their respective posts. The union also demanded to conduct a high level enquiry against the principal. The Administrative Block will continue to shutdown since their demands have not been met and it will be followed by severe forms of agitation, the release added.
