The Directorate of Education - Schools, Manipur on Saturday notified that normal classes for all schools in the state will resume from June 21.
All Zonal Education Officers under the Department of Education - Schools have been directed to take up necessary measures accordingly, it stated.
It may be mentioned that on June 15, Chief Minister N Biren Singh had revealed plans to extend the curfew period from 5 am to 6 pm, allowing normal activities to resume gradually and reopening of schools from June 21, if possible.
Earlier on June 11, in view of the prevailing crisis situation in the state, the Manipur Educational Development and Research Centre (MEDRA) stated in a released that the academic career of many students is at risk due to the prevailing conflict.
The authorities concerned should initiate effective measures to end the unrest at the earliest considering the hardships faced by the students and to prevent ruining their academic progress, it stated.
Meanwhile, as thousands of students are displaced and taking shelter in relief camps, the Private School Development Council (PSDC), Thoubal district had unanimously resolved to offer free education for the internally displaced students staying in relief centres within Thoubal district.
