New Education Policy flexible, multidisciplinary: MP Ranjan

With the aim to reverberate the rich legacy of ancient knowledge and wisdom, the NEP 2020 was introduced by the government, Union minister RK Ranjan said at the National Seminar on Multidisciplinary Advanced Research in North Eastern India.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education RK Ranjan on Friday said the New Education Policy (NEP) is flexible and multidisciplinary and it will help in imparting new ideas for building a developed nation.

Ranjan was addressing the National Seminar on Multidisciplinary Advanced Research in North Eastern India at Waikhom Mani Girl's College Thoubal. Since ancient days, India has been considered the best place for learning Philosophy, Astronomy, Mathematics, and other fields of knowledge, he said.

With the aim to reverberate the rich legacy of ancient knowledge and wisdom, the New Education Policy, 2020 was introduced by the government, he added.

The NEP 2020 envisioned an education system rooted in Indian ethos that contributes directly to transforming India into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society by providing high-quality education to all and thereby, making India a global knowledge superpower, he mentioned.

He said that the vision of the policy is to instill among the learners a deep-rooted pride in being Indian not only in thought but also in spirit. It seeks to develop knowledge skills value and disposition that support responsible commitment to human rights, he added.  

He said the new policy consists of four pillars of which, quality is the most important. Accountability, Affordability, and Accessibility are the other important pillars.

Vice-chancellor DM University, professor N Rajmohun Singh; principal Waikhom Mani Girl's College, professor H Manoranjan Sharma; convenor Indian Science Congress Manipur chapter professor Arun Kumar and vice principal Waikhom Mani Girl's College S Shyamkiran attended as other dais members.

Academicians, teachers, and students of the college participated in the seminar.
