The Kangleipak Students’ Association (KSA) on Tuesday slammed the Manipur University, stating that its complete ignorance in setting rules and regulations for the ensuing 1st semester exam slated to be held on June 24 will most likely cause dropout of many students from the exam. It urged the university to reschedule the exam.
KSA, in a release, pointed out that as per the notice issued by the Manipur University on June 12, displaced students have been allowed to choose an exam centre at their convenience. However, the students require mutual agreements from the concerned principal of their college and that of the other college they opted for, thereby causing major inconveniences to them, it added.
It also mentioned that the notice stated that a supplementary exam may be conducted if the displaced candidates fail to appear for the exam. It questioned whether the students from the peripheral areas who are volunteering to safeguard their villages will be denied permission for appearance in the exam as they are not under the ‘displaced students’ category.
It urged the University to review its notice and reconsider its decision as many students, especially those from the peripheral areas will likely be unable to appear for the exam in their respective colleges. It also highlighted the plights facing the students from far-flung areas as there are no regular passenger services at the moment.
It appealed for conducting a supplementary exam for all the students who might not be able to appear for the exam owing to the prevailing tense situation in the state and to allow the students to freely opt any examination centre convenient to them.
