Manipur University vice-chancellor professor N Lokendra on Sunday asserted that it was crucial for budding innovators and entrepreneurs of the state to remain updated on the changing technological flow to further their ideas and boost Manipur’s homegrown private sector.
Dedication and sacrifice are the bread and butter of every successful entrepreneur, he said, while speaking at the World Entrepreneurs Day 2023 event held at Manipur University on Monday.
The event at MU was organised by the Department of Vocational Studies & Skill Development (DVSSD) of the university.
Pointing out that young innovators and entrepreneurs of the nation would lead the country’s economic trajectory in the coming years, he said: “Historically, India has been one the leading economic powers in the world and with the country’s exploding youth population, it will only be a matter of time before the country reasserts itself as a key player on the global economic map”.
Lokendra maintained that authorities and investors were keeping a close watch on India because of this potential and striving to boost entrepreneurship in the country by aiding numerous start-ups every year.
He highlighted that the tourism industry in Manipur had great potential for development and can help boost the state’s economy.
Not only that, since the state will become the country’s gateway to South East Asia, there is enormous potential for medical tourism as well, he added. As such, he emphasised the need to develop the entrepreneurial sector of Manipur and exhort the youths to explore and tread on new grounds.
DVSSD HoD professor Th Purnima, NIT associate professor Thiyam David, assistant professor of Teacher Education Department Koijam Sobita and managing director of Thangjam Agro Industries limited Thangjam Joykumar along with students and staff of the university were present at the observation.
