The High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination, 2023 result saw two students from the same school sharing the second position podium.
Omega Chanu Wangkhem a student of Ratankumar Memorial School, Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi, Imphal aspires to become a civil servant and diligently serve the people and the state.
Speaking to the media, Omega Chanu, daughter of Sanjoy Wangkhem Meitei and Wangkhem Bedana Leima of Irengbam Mamang Leikai, Bishnupur district expressed gratitude to her parents and all who helped her achieve the remarkable feat.
“I feel overjoyed that all my hard work and perseverance has finally paid off; all the credit for my achievement goes to my parents, teachers and all the well-wishers who helped me in my academic journey,” she said.
She highlighted that she would stay in the state for higher secondary studies and choose science stream.

It has been my dream to appear for the UPSC and become a civil servant therefore I will transition to arts stream after completing my higher secondary studies, she added.
She pointed out that her teachers at school guided her when she needed help and extended gratitude to all of them for their support and encouragement during preparation for HSLC exam, 2023.
Meanwhile, another second holder of Ratankumar Memorial School, Venus Laiphrakpam also expressed her desire to go into administrative services in the future.
She extended credit for her achievement to all her teachers, parents and sisters who helped her procure the academic achievement.
She highlighted that she did not follow a structured study routine for exam preparation and continued that she studied diligently whenever she could.
“I did not wait for instructions from my teachers and parents about when to study; I studied whenever I had time,” she said.

She also reiterated that she would take science stream for her higher secondary education and transfer to arts stream for her graduation.
“Appearing the UPSC has been a lifelong dream of mine as such I will do everything in my power to materialise that dream,” she said.
Venus Laiphrakpam is the daughter of L Sadananda singh and L Sobita devi of Nambol Awang leikai, Bishnupur district.
Both of them scored 591 marks out of a total 600 and secured letter marks in Manipuri (MM), English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Higher maths.
