Tamenglong schools’ debate championship under the theme, ‘Battle of Brains 2.0’ was held at Centennial Hall, Town Baptist Church Tamenglong headquarters on Monday.
The second edition of ‘Battle of Brains’ district level school debate championship was organised by district administration under the leadership of the deputy commissioner Tamenglong L Angshim Dangshawa.
Additional district magistrate Chunglenmang Kipgen attended as speaker of the debate competition. The motion of the debate was ‘The future of Tamenglong depends mainly on its leaders, not the people’.
At least 18 school students from different corners of Tamenglong district took part in the competition.
Tamenglong college principal Kinthuijinang Maremmei, Tamenglong college History department HoD Associate professor Maliangjinliu Panmei and Rongmei Bible Translators Gaichengsui Panmei attended as judges of the debate competition.
Tamenglong Deputy Commissioner L Angshim Dangshawa, Tousem Sub-divisional officer Paul Nangsha, Tamenglong sub-divisional officer Meidinbui Dichongta, superintendent of police Lanmiyo Luikham, Zonal Education Officer N Abonpou Christopher, ADC Chief Executive Officer Kachamthai Faiga Gangmei, 5th MR deputy commander Alen Chiru, school principals, former ADC Members, CSOs leaders attended and witnessed the talented debate students.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong L Angshim Dangshawa lauded all the students and principals. He said that the aim of the debate competition is to encourage critical thinking.
Speaker Chunglenmang Kipgen, in his closing remarks, said that one must understand that such Debate Competition held at the District Level provides a window of opportunity for young talents to shine and catch their dreams.
He urged all the principal, headmaster, headmistress, of Schools and Colleges, parents and guardians in the district to take advantage and enroll maximum participation in the future.
Two Artists including Eleibe and Apiliupp entertained the audience.
Of 18 talented students, Namding Kamei of Trinity Public School, Ngamjengluibou Pamei of Langmei Higher Secondary school Tamei and Rangkhonlung Kamei of ERMS bagged first, second and third respectively. They received a cash of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.
