Local residents of Nambol on Saturday condemned the reposting of Laishram Badalkumar as principal for Nambol Higher Secondary School, and locked the principal’s room of the school in a show of protest while demanding the authority concerned to send a new principal by September 2.
Development and Protection United Voluntary Organisation (DPUVO), Nambol and Nambol Apunba Nupi Lup also jointly held a protest at Nambol Higher Secondary School on the ground against the reposting of Laishram Badalkumar.
DPUVO general secretary Th Lamjingba told the media on the sidelines of the event that people from Nambol have been demanding to remove Laishram Badalkumar from his post as a principal for the past many months due to his improper functioning of school. As an outcome of the protest, he was transferred to another place on July 7. But recently on August 10, his transfer order was stayed by the court and it made him return back to school.
In condemnation of his resuming post, they locked the principal’s room after chasing him out of the room. He further demanded not to send Badalkumar as principal anymore and urged to send a new principal by September 2.
He asserted that people of Nambol do not want Laishram Badalkumar to be assigned as the principal of the said school. Instead of bringing development in the school, Badalkumar is only concerned for his own benefits. The principal unnecessarily took extra money at the time of admission from students, and the salary of the staff is still not disbursed for two months because of his actions.
On top of this, the infrastructure of the school is deteriorating each day. There is no proper science laboratory, toilet and many other basic needs are inadequate, he said. Instead of fulfilling all such essential things, Badalkumar has been focussing only on the renovation of his office room (principal room of the school), he added.
He said that Nambol Higher Secondary School is one of the central educational centres for students residing in Nambol, Konthoujam, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa and Oinam constituency. Therefore, it is of utmost need to have a very honest, dedicated and sincere principal. But the present principal of the school is totally opposite of what the people of Nambol had expected, he added.
“We do not want Laishram Badalkumar anymore. The authorities concerned should consider the demand of Nambol people and not send him as principal anymore,” he appealed.
