Lecture programme on ‘Stone Age Culture of Manipur’ held

During the programme, retired superintendent of Archaeology, Okram Kumar Singh, highlighted the lifestyle and tools used by the forefathers during the Palaeolithic culture, Hoabinhian culture and Neolithic culture in Manipur.

An Invited Lecture Series -I on the topic “Stone Age Culture of Manipur: An Overview” was organised on Saturday by the department of History of DM College of Arts at its multipurpose hall in Imphal.

During the programme, retired superintendent of Archaeology, Okram Kumar Singh, highlighted the lifestyle and tools used by the forefathers during the Palaeolithic culture, Hoabinhian culture and Neolithic culture in Manipur.

Head of the History department, DM College, Lunneikhup Vaiphei, said that the Saturday’s lecture programme, which was organised to facilitate the faculties and students on the history of Manipur, will encourage the students to dig up more history of Manipur.

He said that due to lack of teaching faculties since the upgradation of DM College into DM University, such lecture series were impossible to organise in the past, however with immense effort the first edition of the lecture series was organised successfully today.

Such lecture series will be organised frequently boost the knowledge of the students, he added.

The function was also attended by principal of DM College of Arts Sheelaramani, staff, students and other academicians.
