The Kangleipak Students’ Association (KSA) on Friday condemned the move of some private schools in taking tuition fees from the students for May and June, during which the schools remained closed and asserted that education business is not for profit making.
KSA highlighted the hardships and sufferings facing the people owing to the terror attacks by kuki militants above bearing the brunt of a bitter financial situation. It expressed discontentment over such senseless moves of some private schools and demanded public clarification regarding the same at the earliest.
It expressed suspicion whether the government’s move to reopen the schools was to solely charge fees from the students. It further condemned the reopening of schools in haste, before issuing appropriate guidelines nor shifting the paramilitary forces still stationed inside the campuses of the schools and colleges.
KSA submitted a memorandum to the Education (S) Commissioner regarding the matter, which was also forwarded to Education (S) Director and the Education Minister, but to no avail till date, it mentioned. KSA also warned the Education (S) Commissioner and Director to bear consequences and reiterated its demand for the resignation of the duo, alleging that they failed to carry out their responsibilities, the release added.
