International Conference on NEP 2020 begins at NEHU

The conference promises to be a platform for insightful discussions and knowledge exchange, aimed at fostering innovation and excellence in education in line with the visionary NEP 2020, a release stated.

The Department of Education at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, in collaboration with Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal, and the Council of Educational Administration and Management (CEAM), inaugurated the International Conference on ‘NEP 2020: Teaching, Education, and New Learning Technology’ at the Golden Jubilee Auditorium, NEHU on Tuesday.

A release stated that the inaugural session was attended by NEHU vice-chancellor professor PS Shukla, who presided over the ceremony and inspired the participants with his motivational words. Head of the Department of Education at NEHU and Convener of the conference, professor Brinda Bazeley Kharbirymbai extended a warm welcome to all the guests.

The chief guest, professor Neelima Gupta, vice-chancellor of HS Gour Viswavidyalay, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, emphasised the significance of such conferences in updating knowledge related to teaching and learning, particularly in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020, it mentioned.

Commissioner and secretary of the Government of Meghalaya Fedrick Roy Kharkongor attended the occasion as the guest of honour, it further stated.

It said that distinguished scholars including professor Chitra Bahadur Budhathoki from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, and NIOS chairperson, professor Saroj Sharma delivered the keynote addresses during the inaugural session. They enlightened the participants about the challenges and opportunities presented by the NEP 2020 for successful implementation.

Conference co-convener Babli Choudhury shared that over 30 experts from various institutions and universities across India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Austria deliberated on various aspects of the NEP 2020 throughout the two-day conference. The event witnessed the participation of more than 200 PG students, research scholars, and faculty members, who presented a total of 150 research papers both online and offline, it mentioned.
