A three-week skill training programme in ‘Fragrance Formulations for Wellness Products’ with the participation of 30 women from Manipur, including internally displaced persons was inaugurated at Hindu College, University of Delhi in New Delhi on Monday.
As many as 30 women from Manipur, including 15 internally displaced persons from relief camps following the recent crisis, will undergo the intensive training, stated a release.
The intensive three-week training programme encompasses theoretical sessions, special lectures, hands on sessions, visit to industries and excursions and aims to empower women from Manipur by equipping them with specialised skills in the fragrance industry, it stated.
It stated that the training programme is an initiative of Government of Manipur which is being organised by Hindu College in partnership with Ultra International Ltd And CSIR- CIMAP, Lucknow, under the esteemed mentorship of Supreme Court appointed Committee, headed by Hon’ble Justice Gita Mittal.
The inauguration was attended by Manipur chief secretary Vineet Joshi as chief guest while staff officer to the chief secretary Mercina Panmei attended the event as the guest of honour, it mentioned.

It further stated that vice principal of Hindu College professor Reena Jain delivered the opening remarks, emphasising the importance of skill training in fragrance formulations for the wellness industry.
Hindu College principal professor Anju Srivastava extended a warm welcome to all the participants, highlighting the college's commitment to empowering young women through such initiatives, it further stated.
Vineet Joshi emphasised the unique opportunity and privileges afforded to the Manipuri girls and encouraged them to maximise this chance to expand their knowledge and work towards self-sustainability, it stated.
He further stated that the training is more than just acquiring skills but also a doorway to a brighter future for many. The programme was attended by the faculty members and students of Hindu college, it added.
The hands-on training will include the extraction of essential oil from lime/orange peel, extraction of oil from clove buds, soap making, and the preparation of talcum powder, shampoo, and hand sanitisers, it stated.
Upon completion of their training at Hindu College, the state government of Manipur will further enhance their skills by collaborating with the MSME Technology Centre in Imphal, which has facilities like distilleries and labs for producing the items they have been trained to make, it stated.
Additionally, the procurement of goods produced at the relief camps will be managed by MSRLM (Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission) and MHHDC (Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd), two government agencies nominated by the state government to support relief and rehabilitation efforts, it mentioned.
This initiative aims to provide livelihood opportunities to the residents of the relief camps by ensuring that government offices in thesState source their office supplies from items produced by these inmates, it added.
