Speaking to media at FESOK office, Imphal, general secretary N Riskesh Mangang stated that the semester examinations for 11 out of 12 departments of Manipur University of Culture had started from February 16, 2024.

“The exams for BA 1st, 2nd and 3rd year along with MA 1st and last year have started. But the exam for the Department of Theater and Performance Studies is yet to start,” he said.

He maintained that the inability to timely commence the exam for the department was because of the reckless behaviour and disregard of the department’s head-in-charge assistant professor Toijam Shila Devi.

“When FESOK inquired about the incident, it was revealed that professor Shila had failed to sign and submit the exam forms on time to the office of the Examination Controller. As such, no admit cards were issued,” he said.

He further highlighted that the university had issued an explanation call to the professor regarding her negligent behaviour and taking leave before any approval.

He demanded the university and higher authorities to take stringent actions against the professor Shila and cautioned that the university would be responsible for any untoward incidents which resulted from their inaction.
