The office of the governing body and management committee of Shree Shree Gourobind Girl’s College in Imphal East has terminated the principal of the college, K Jashshakhi, from her service on June 3 on charge of misappropriation of the college fund.
After witnessing that a large sum of money, amounting to crores, sanctioned by the UGC for the development of the college, had been misappropriated by unknown persons, the management committee had sought annual audit account statement from the former principal, said president of the management committee K Irabot while speaking to the media on Monday at Manipur Press club in Imphal West.
He said as the former principal was unable to produce the account statement to the committee, an enquiry was conducted against her keeping her in suspension. On being found guilty the principal was terminated from her service and appointed Priyokumar as the new principal of the college.
Meanwhile, the Eastern Popular Club (EPC), Imphal has termed the decision to terminate the principal of the college by the management committee as null and void.
Vice-president of Bon Khurai said that there are disputes among the management committee of the college and the college is in turmoil.
In this regard the land donors of the college had apprised the club to look after and manage the college activities which would be determined to the interest and proper functioning of the college, he added.
For the smooth functioning of the college the club wrote to the education department to fully overtake the administration of the college, he said asking the committee to stop taking decisions of the college without the approval of the state government.
