KSO Sadar Hills on Sunday urged the Kangpokpi JNV selected Candidates Guardians’ Association to be aware of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti admission guidelines before making allegations.

The Association had alleged Kangpokpi ZEO of refusing to countersign the admission forms of the selected students whose permanent addresses are not from the Kangpokpi district and demanded admission to JNV of Imphal East or West.

Considering the allegations, the student body stated that as per the NVS admission guidelines and prospectus for JNV Selection Test 2022 for admission to Class VI, under eligible criteria 4.1, it was clearly stated a candidate applying for the JNVST should be from the district where the JNV is located. The eligible criteria 4.2 also stated that the candidate should be studying in Class V in a Government/ Government aided or recognised school in that district, it added.

From various communities, there are many candidates who are permanent residents of the Kangpokpi district and there are no problems in their admission process, KSO stated. There is nothing communal over the refusal to countersign by ZEO Kangpokpi; she is rather acting as per the NVS admission guidelines, it stated.

“The ZEO Kangpokpi is acting accordingly as per the NVS guidelines and there is nothing wrong with her refusing to countersign the admission forms of the students whose permanent addresses are not from the district,” it stated

It further stated that the deputy commissioner (Exam), NVS, Ministry of Education (department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India through a representation F.No.1-46/2022-NVS(Exam)/3277 dated March 14 requested the deputy commissioner Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti of all regional offices to instruct the principal of JNV in their respective jurisdiction to verify the residential status and class V/VIII status before confirming the admission of provisionally selected candidates in Classes VI/IX from the session 2022-2023.

The DC and JNV of all regional offices were also informed that in some JNVs, the candidates from other districts are being admitted, and hence it has been decided that for future admission in Class VI/IX, submission of proof of address in the same district along with documents for which the applicants have applied, will be mandatory.

The student body also strongly urged deputy commissioner Kangpokpi to take appropriate action against such officials indulging in such unprofessional conduct.
