18 schools in Imphal to remain closed on April 17-18

The 18 schools will remain closed on account of the ensuing 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Election.

Office of the District Election Officer, Imphal East has informed all the principal and head of institutions on closure of 18 selected schools on April 17 and 18 on account of the ensuing 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Election on Friday.

District Election Officer, Imphal East, Khumanthem Diana in a letter to the concerned Principals of the selected schools on Monday, said that the schools will preferably remain closed on the said dates and in addition to the poll day which will be notified by the Government later.

The schools are Mega Manipur School, Yaralpat, RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya, Haotel, Leishemba Maheikol, Chingarel, Kanan Devi School, Pangei, Hard Bird School, Changangei Uchekon, The Career Foundation School, Napet, Millenium School, Mayaikoibi, COMET School, Changangei Uchekon, MECI School, Changangei Uchekon, St. Anthony High School, Sangakpham, St Thomas High School, Kontha Ahallup, Don Bosco High School, Chingmeirong, Camps English School, Luwangshangbam, St. Kids Arena, Khurai, Sacred Heart School, Porompat, Imphal Valley School, Chumbreithong, Khabam, Christ Jyoti School, Mantripukhri and Memorial Model Academy, Yairipok Bazar.

It stated that there will be dispersal of polling personnel on April 18 in connection with the polls in which many Government/PSUs are involved.

A number of stakeholders is to be involved in the entire exercise of election on these days, it stated, adding that a large number of public transport/private vehicles has been requisitioned for the said purpose and there is likely to be very less no. of vehicles which also include the school vans of the said schools.

It asserted that the vans/vehicles plying for the schools will be used for movement of polling and security personnel and further notified the drivers along with their vehicles/vans to report to the DEO office on or before 12:00 noon of April 17 without fail. All concerned are requested for strict compliance of the order issued, it mentioned.
