Two more die of COVID-19 in Manipur

Manipur reported 15 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday

COVID-19 claimed two more lives in Manipur, while 15 more people tested positive for the infection, according to the latest update by the state health department. 

A total of 1,111 samples were tested for COVID-19 on Sunday, of which 15 returned positive. day's positivity rate is 1.4 per cent.

The state's COVID-19 death toll climbed to 2,118 while the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 1,36,991.

The two COVID-19 fatality recorded on Sunday are from Kangpokpi and Ukhrul. Both the deceased had co-morbidities and one was vaccinated with first dose, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.

As per the release, four new COVID-19 cases were reported each from Imphal West, another eight cases from Chandel, two from Kakching and one from Thoubal.

The state also recorded nine new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,34,776. The recovery rate is 98.38 per cent. Manipur now has 97 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 348 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 140 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 27,50,796 (first dose: 15,22,340 second dose: 11,65,371 precautionary dose: 63,085).

The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 61.30 per cent and for the second dose is 49.78 per cent, it mentioned.
