Mizoram, which earlier reported the third highest COVID-19 active cases in India, on Thursday reported a cumulative active caseload of 16,075, the fourth highest in India, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.
Kerala continued to report the highest total number of COVID-19 active cases at 1,22,996.
Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu reported the second and third highest active caseload at 36,767 and 16,637 respectively.
The country’s active caseload fell to 2,44,198; lowest in 204 days, with 22,431 new COVID-19 cases reported on Thursday, according to the Ministry.
The cumulative COVID-19 active cases account for less than one per cent of total cases, currently at 0.72 per cent; lowest since March 2020.
The total COVID-19 confirmed cases reached 3,38,94,312, while the death toll mounted to 4,49,856, as 318 more people succumbed to the disease.
The country’s COVID-19 recovery rate currently at 97.95 per cent; highest since March 2020, with the report of 24,602 new recoveries. The total recoveries have reached 3,32,00,258.
The weekly positivity rate remained less than three per cent for last 104 days at of 1.68 per cent, while the daily positivity rate remained below three per cent for last 38 days at 1.57 per cent.
A total of 57,86,57,484 tests have been conducted and in all, 92,63,68,608 vaccine doses have been administered so far across the country under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
