Mizoram reports highest COVID-19 active caseload in Northeast India

Mizoram on Wednesday reported one more COVID-19 death, taking its death toll to 638

Mizoram's COVID-19 active caseload reached 11,469, the highest among all states in Northeast India, while it reported 1616 new positive cases and one more fatality on Wednesday, official sources said.

Today, the state has 2,00,635 COVID-19 cases, including 1,88,528 total recoveries. As many as 2,024 people reported recovered from the disease on Wednesday.

Assam has the second highest COVID-19 active caseload of 3,247, followed by Manipur at 2,178. So far, the two states have 7,23,759 and 1,36,032 total COVID-19 confirmed cases respectively, while Mizoram has 2,00,635 total COVID-19 confirmed cases.

Sikkim with 312 active cases, has the lowest number of COVID-19 active cases among all states in Northeast India. Its total confirmed caseload reached 38,977 as of Wednesday.

Nagaland has 382 COVID-19 active cases and its total confirmed caseload of 35,274.

Tripura has 147 COVID-19 active cases and its total confirmed caseload reached 1,00,813.

Meghalaya has 609 COVID-19 active cases and its total confirmed caseload currently is 93,071.

Arunachal Pradesh has 466 COVID-19 active cases and 64,110 confirmed cases as of Wednesday.

COVID-19 Deaths in Northeast India

Assam's COVID-19 death toll reached 6,615 as of Wednesday, while Mizoram's death toll currently is 638, Manipur 2,086, Tripura 919, Meghalaya 1,565, Sikkim 440, Nagaland 753, and Arunachal Pradesh 294. Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura reported no new deaths on Wednesday.

COVID-19 Update India

Meanwhile, the country reported 30,615 new cases, as per the latest update by the Union Health Ministry. Consequently, the daily positivity rate stood at 2.45 per cent and weekly positivity rate at 3.32 per cent.

India's Active caseload reached 3,70,240 and the active cases stood at 0.87 per cent, while the recovery rate moved to at 97.94 per cent. As many as 82,988 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours pushing the total number of recoveries to 4,18,43,446.

Meanwhile, 75.42 cr total tests were conducted so far as 12,51,677 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, and 173.86 cr vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive
