Meghalaya's COVID-19 caseload surged to 13,460 with 12 new cases, while no new COVID-19 fatality was recorded in the state on Sunday, sources said.
The new cases included 10 from East Khasi Hills and one each from West Jaintia Hills and Ri-Bhoi, the sources said.
Meanwhile, the number of recovered cases increased to 13,186 as 13 more persons, 10 from East Khasi Hills and one each from Ri-Bhoi, West Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills, recuperated from the infection, the sources said, while adding that the recovery rate improved to 97.96 per cent.
COVID-19 has so far claimed 139 lives in Meghalaya and the fatality rate in the state is 1.03 per cent. The number of active cases stood at 135.
Meghalaya has recorded 33 new infections and 47 recoveries in the first three days of the new year.
