Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday said he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is undergoing home isolation with mild symptoms.
The chief minister has asked all those people who came in close contact with him recently to get themselves tested.
"I have tested positive for #Covid_19. I am under home isolation and experiencing mild symptoms. I request all those who came in contact with me in the past 5 days to kindly keep a watch on their health and if necessary get tested. Stay safe," the chief minister tweeted.
Sangma is the second chief minister in the Northeast states to be hit by the Coronavirus infection. Earlier, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh was also tested positive for COVID-19 and recovered from it.
In October, state Health Minister AL Hek and Urban Affairs Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar were tested positive for Coronavirus infection and have recovered.
