Sena Youth’s Trust (SYT) has said that the Manipur government has not included a person, who died after testing COVID-19 positive, in the list of COVID-19 deaths.
“N Ibomcha, a resident of Kakching Wairi Senapati Leikai was hospitalised on November 8 at a private hospital. He tested positive for COVID-19 and died on the same day. However, his name was not included in the government’s list of those who died of COVID-19,” SYT said in a release.
It said that during contact tracing, two of his family members tested COVID-19 positive on November 9 and later six more individuals from the same locality tested positive but the district administration announced the locality as a containment zone on November 11.
Besides, when Kakching detected the first COVID-19 positive patient without any travel history in the said locality on August 19, the district administration did not declare the area as a containment zone, it alleged.
Such delay in announcement of containment zone and exclusion of Ibomcha from the list of deceased clearly shows that there are many loopholes in the government’s measures in combating COVID-19 pandemic, the release said.
It also urged the government to include Ibomcha in the list of deceased people that died of COVID-19 and make the district administration take timely COVID preventive measures.
