COVID-19 caseload in Manipur surged to 28,060 as 31 more persons, 16 males and 14 females, from the general population and one Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel tested positive for the viral infection, the state health department said on Monday.
Of the new cases, 23 are from Imphal East, four from Imphal West, and one each from Bishnupur, Kakching and Churachandpur, according to a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
All are locals without any significant travel history. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
No new COVID-19 death was reported on Monday and the state's death toll stood at 348.
The state's recoveries surged to 26,478 with 74 new recoveries. With it, the number of COVID-19 active cases in Manipur is 1,234 and the recovery rate improved to 94.36 per cent, it added.
The cumulative number of cases under home isolation in Manipur increased to 8,681, including 7,991 recovered cases and 316 active cases.
Meanwhile, the state health department have requested air passengers who travelled to Manipur on December 17 by Indigo flight 6E-251(Delhi-Imp) seated in rows 28, 29, 30 and 31 to inform the Common Covid Control Room number - 1800343818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO).
The state health department has also advised the public to dial - 104 Manipur Mental Health Helpline from 9 am to 9 pm, for mental wellbeing. It also advised those in contact with a positive patient to self-isolate themselves immediately, contact the Covid Control room or the district CMO for testing.
