Manipur Students Federation (MSF) has appealed to the state government to organise a COVID-19 vaccination registration drive for people who could not avail the facility for online registration.
Highlighting the need to chalk out a new plan for tackling the third wave of COVID-19 in the state, MSF claimed that the number of Covid fatalities and positive cases are increasing in the state as it was not fully prepared.
In a release issued on Thursday, MSF claimed that there is no sign that the pandemic in the state will be over soon despite different measures initiated by the state government.
There is a need to increase the COVID-19 treatment facilities in hospitals, oxygen plants as well as the daily administered vaccines, it stated.
MSF stressed on the need for increasing the number of oxygen beds, ICUs and ventilators in the government as well as the private hospitals and facilities of paediatric care.
It also highlighted the need of providing infection control training to the health worker and to keep medicines, equipment and safety gears in stock.
A dedicated government hospital for treatment of non COVID patients and streamlining infection management measures in each district is also essential to fight the pandemic, it added.
