Manipur logs 277 new COVID-19 positive cases, three deaths

Manipur's COVID-19 tally surged to 1,34,444 while the death toll mounted to 2,057 on Friday.

Manipur on Friday recorded 277 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,34,444 while the death toll mounted to 2,057 with three new fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 13.3 per cent.

The three COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Friday are from Imphal West, Kakching and Noney. All the three deceased had co-morbidities, two of them were fully vaccinated, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room.

As per the release, 110 new COVID-19 cases were reported from Imphal West, another 76 cases from Imphal East, 12 from Bishnupur, 14 from Chandel, nine each from Churachandpur and Senapati, 13 from Kakching, 16 from Thoubal, five each from Kangpokpi, Tamenglong and Ukhrul, two from Noney and one from Jiribam.

The state also recorded 357 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,28,494. The recovery rate is 95.57 per cent. Manipur now has 3,893 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 246 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 96 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 25,44,110 (first dose: 14,45,016 second dose: 10,62,951 precautionary dose: 36,143).

The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 59.07 per cent and for the second dose is 45.41 per cent, it mentioned.
