Manipur's COVID-19 death toll rose to 52 as one more succumbed to the illness, while 177 more people tested positive for the viral infection, pushing the COVID-19 tally in the state to 8,607 cases as on Friday, the state health department said.
Of the 177 new cases, 113 persons were from general population and 64 personnel from Central Armed Police Force. As many as 31 from Imphal West, 37 from Imphal East, 20 from Thoubal, nine from Churachandpur, six from Senapati, one from Kakching, three from Kakpokpi, two from Chandel one Ukhrul, two from Tamenglong and one from Tengnoupal. 103 persons from general population are locals with no travel history and the rest 10 are returnees from other states.
The cumulative number of active cases is 1,926. In the past twenty hours, 90 persons were discharged. The cumulative number of recovered persons is 6,629 and the recovery rate is 77.01 per cent.

Advisory to public: If you were in contact with a Covid positive person, self-isolate immediately, contact Covid Control Room or district CMO for testing, the state health department stated in the release.
